What is Mechanical Aptitude?
Mechanical aptitude is the ability to learn about mechanical objects and physical and mechanical principles both formally and through experience.
Mechanical aptitude is reflected in and measured by the degree of familiarity with everyday physical objects, tools and devices, especially their function, use, home-repair, size, shape, weight and appearance.
What Areas Are Tested?
The WTMA measures broad mechanical/physical concepts, including but not limited to:
- Basic machines
- Movement of objects
- Gravity and center of gravity
- Basic electricity/electronics
- Transfer of heat
- Basic physical properties of matter and materials
