DT-PAM Reliability and Validity
The reliability and validity of the DT-PAM are both quite high.
In two criterion-related validity studies, the DT-PAM had correlations of .88 and .81 with two groups of 8th grade students.
The reliability of the total score is .93, so the test is definitely reliable enough to guide end-of-year placement decisions for individual students.
The DT-PAM has also been shown to be closely related to a typical state-wide test (the Massachusetts MCAS). The correlation between the DT-PAM and the MCAS 8th grade math test was found to be .88 (n=97, p<.001).
